The college was recognized as a Centre for Doctoral Research via Order No. AC.AII-1/504/87 dtd 6.5.1988 for Social Work, Sociology and allied Social Sciences, and for Management Studies Via Order No. (Ac.A.II-3/1175/92 dt.30-11-1993) under M.G. University, Kottayam, Kerala, to carry out research on the subject approved by the University leading to the Ph.D. degree.
